Biography
Fahran is a five-piece, melodic, hard-rock band from Derbyshire. Formed in 2006, under the name, Toxic Federation, the band quickly set about writing and performing their own material. The songs, honed on the road, were released independently by the band, in 2008, on their debut album, 'Behind the Mask' - incredibly, when the average age of the band was just sixteen. From these humble beginnings, the band moved to an entirely different level. The sheer dynamism and quality of their live shows has been responsible for winning them support slots with British rock legends, UFO, and rising Irish stars, The Answer, among many others. In addition to a packed schedule of gigs, returning by popular demand, again and again, to venues overwhelmed by the band, they have also appeared at Greenbelt Festival, to rave reviews, and enjoyed headline slots of their own, not least the Callis Festival and Istanbul Rock Festival in Turkey. The band is not just a killer live-act, though; they have worked prolifically, producing two further albums: As One and Distance, which clearly demonstrate the remarkable creative talent at the heart of this song-writing collective. Following the departure of both their lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist in 2011, many thought the future of the band lay uncertain. However, before the year was out, they were back onstage with a new frontman, Nick Whitcroft, an impressive, lively, experienced singer, whose vocal talent is equally matched by his enthusiasm and drive, a testament to the band's unerring dedication. The New Year marked new beginnings for the band and, fittingly, Fahran was born. The new five-piece line-up amounts to a darker, heavier and far more mature sound - this is a band that has worked for all they have achieved, leaving them with a seasoned gravitas. Fahran continue to forge a sound far greater than the sum of their parts that is redolent of no one and is entirely their own.
